Frequently Asked Questions

On RACE DAY packets will be available at the Start/Finish area inside the Kamiak High School Commons from 7:00-8:30 ONLY.  VIP Parking Passes will not be issued on Race Day.

CAN I REGISTER ON RACE DAY?  Yes, assuming spots are still available.  Race Day registration will be available from 7:00-8:30 ONLY at the Start/Finish area inside the Kamiak High School Commons.  Race Day registration is $40 - cash preferred, credit cards with 3% surcharge.   Goodie bags and medals are not guaranteed.  Registration will close at 8:30 or when our cap of 400 participants is reached.

WILL GEAR CHECK BE AVAILABLE?   Yes - Gear can be checked at the Start/Finish area up until the start of the race.  VIP Participants will find their Gear Check area inside the VIP "lounge" while all others will find it inside the Kamiak High School Commons.  We discourage checking valuables and instead recommend leaving them at home or hidden in your locked car.

ARE DOGS OR STROLLERS ALLOWED ON THIS COURSE?  Pets are not allowed on this event due to insurance restrictions.  ONLY SINGLE STROLLERS ARE ALLOWED due to course restrictions. Those lining up with wide double strollers will be asked to remain at the Start/Finish line to cheer in the runners rather than participate in the event.   Strollers should be able to handle a variety of surfaces including unpaved trails.

ARE HEADPHONES ALLOWED?  The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this event.  If you must use them  we STRONGLY suggest using only one earbud and keeping the volume low enough to be able to hear Course Marshall and Safety Monitor instructions while running.  This is not a closed course.

WILL THERE BE BATHROOMS ON THE COURSE?  Restrooms are available inside the Kamiak Commons at the Start/Finish area.

IS THERE A COURSE TIME LIMIT?  Since only a very small portion of our route is closed to traffic we do not have a course time limit for either the 5k or 10k events.  We do however need to be cleared out of Kamiak by noon and we really, really want to be there to greet you when you cross the finish line!  Please plan on meeting or exceeding a 22 to 23 minute per mile pace to make sure you get all the recognition you deserve when you are done.  We will have crew members walking both the 5k and 10k courses as "sweep" so you will never be left to walk alone out there, regardless of your pace.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE FOR MY FRIENDS & FAMILY TO CHEER ME ON?  We welcome family and friends to cheer on runners and walkers.  The Start/Finish area is a great place for spectators to have signs, bells and flowers but if your cheering section wants to cheer you ON the route here are a couple of good spots to see you go by -

5k & 10k - Harbour Pointe Village Park, 12215 Possession Way, Mukilteo,  Street parking available on Possession Way.  Mile 1.3 (5K & 10K)

10k only -  Point of Grace church parking lot, 5425 Harbour Pointe Blvd, Mukilteo.  NO HELIUM BALLOONS PLEASE per their request.  Mile 3

TIMING  Your race time will be recorded based on a mass start gun time.  Please be sure your bib is on the FRONT of your clothing when you cross the Finish Line for an accurate time.  It is vital that you start in your assigned wave to receive an accurate start time!

AWARDS and CELEBRATION  Our Awards Ceremony will begin promptly at 10:15 am.  Please stick around for awards, door prizes and to cheer the last participant across the finish line.  Invite your friends and family to come and see you finish.  Drop a few hints along the way about how much you'd love to have flowers or balloons at the finish line!  And don't forget to mention how much you'd like to see a sign with your name on it there too!

Recognition of top 3 overall male and female finishers in 5K & 10K Runs will be presented on race day.

Recognition of top 2 male and female finishers in each age division will be mailed.  6-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

WHO IS THE EVENT BENEFICIARY?   We have all either directly or indirectly been impacted by the effects of breast cancer.  One hundred percent of the profits of the Inspiring Hope Run will benefit the Susan G Komen Foundation.

The Susan G Komen is the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.  The organization's promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.  Over the last 30 years virtually every major advance in the fight against breast cancer has been touched by a SGK grant.  The Komen Foundation is dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage - from the causes, to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.
